The same trick has been used by fishermen and snake hunters alike ever since the invention of the camera. Someone discovered if you hold the creature in question out away from you and face the camera, whatever they’re holding appears much bigger in the picture than it actually is. I can’t lie- I’ve done it myself more than once. Not with a rattlesnake but maybe a few fish. A few times times it was on purpose but sometimes it just happened unintentionally. The one person I know that has NEVER lowered himself to the use of this trick (at least intentionally) is my friend Jackie Bibby of Rising Star Entertainment Network. When you see a picture of him holding a rattlesnake you can be sure it’s VERY close to him. There’s a lot of pictures and videos out there where you’ll see a few of them inside a sleeping bag with him or he may be sitting in a clear plastic bathtub with dozens of them crawling around on him. No trickery or slight of hand with Jackie folks. it’s all real. This weekend in Freer Texas he’ll be thrilling audiences once again with his daring exhibitions of snake handling and educational talks at the Freer Rattlesnake Roundup. If you’re in the area and looking for something a little unusual to do come on out to the Freer airport and see what’s going on. Oh and just so you know- You probably won’t see any giants like the one pictured on the right.
