Harbor Freight Rumor Confirmed-
I’ve heard a few rumors during the last month or so but I acquired a little evidence that pretty much confirms it. I spoke with the manager of Harbor Freight in Abilene earlier this week and he confirmed that they will be opening a store in Brownwood by mid 2017.
For those of you that don’t know, Harbor Freight is the store that stocks an incredible inventory of tools at incredibly low prices. In addition to their already low prices you can always download a 20% off and occasionally 25% off coupon from their website. They’ve also been having a perpetual liquidation sale about twice a month for ages.
According to Wikipedia-
Harbor Freight Tools is a privately held discount tool and equipment retailer, headquartered in Calabasas, California, which operates a chain of retail stores as well as a mail-order and eCommerce business. The company has over 700 stores in 47 states, offering over 7,000 tools and related products. The company employs over 17,000 people in the U.S.
Harbor Freight carries a selection of products including power tools, air tools, hand tools, floor jacks, winches, tool storage, engines, gas generators, and welding equipment. All of its hand tools come with a lifetime warranty, which guarantees them from defects in material and workmanship for the life of the product.

Harbor Freight isn’t one of those companies that are known for selling impeccable quality tools but they are the undisputed ultimate “toy store” for us DIYers that are always piddling around in the workshop. If you’re like me you’re always finding something you could make or DYI if only you had that $600 widget from Home Depot or Lowes. I’ve often found the same widget at Harbor Freight for 1/3 the cost (or less) than other brands. True, it might not last a lifetime but if you’re gonna use it 2 or 3 times and never look at it again who cares.
And if you’re a contractor tired of your hired help losing your $300 DeWalt hammer drills every time you turn around, why not let them use $39 Chicago Electric hammer drills from Harbor Freight? In many cases, it pays for the professionals to buy from Harbor Freight as well.

As far as hand tools are concerned, Harbor Freight offers a lifetime warranty against breakage or defective workmanship. This is the same warranty you get from Craftsman, Snap-On, and many other well-known brands. I’m looking forward to having more shopping options with having to go out of Brownwood.
